Kafkas University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was established in 1982 connected to Atatürk University and has started training – education in 1985. Later, it was connected to Kafkas University that was established in 1992. The faculty is a member of EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) and it maintains training-education with an emphasis on implementation according to the criteria of EAEVE. The main objective of faculty is to develop and bring up qualified veterinarians on national and international level, and produce solutions to the problems of our region and our country on the subject of livestock breeding. In addition to the classrooms and laboratories in compliance with the requirements of the century, there are research and implementation farm, animal hospital and meat and milk products units in our faculty.
There are five division within the Faculty; Basic Sciences, Preclinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Animal Husbandry and Nutrition Sciences, and Food Hygiene and Technology division. Under these divisions, there are 18 departments. The academic staff consists of 27 Professor, 28 Assoc. Professor, 20 Assist. Professor and 19 Research Assistant.
The number of students including English preparation classes is 590. The majority of the departments have M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes.
The faculty is located in Paşaçayırı Campus, 6 km southwest of Kars city center.
